Got out of work at 2 and needed to get on the water today. Hit Mt. Sinai Harbor and just out into the Sound. Only person out there. No boats or jet skis. Just quiet, sunny, 40 degrees and great. Could almost feel the tug on a rod. Sometimes not even a ripple out there today. Enjoy the pictures.

Might try to see the seals on Wednesday, tomorrow going to catch the last day of the boat show at Javits, get dad out of his house. Get out early, looks like a nasty front moving in late tomorrow.

Seal capture is not allowed but what if a couple of dozen falcons were to just happen to drop a seal onto the parking lot at the end of Atlantic Ave...........hmmmmmmm. Wonder what the air speed of them would need to be?

I have used the boat ramp if early enough or the dinghy launch and near the inlet if there is parking. Being an Islip resident you have to get there early to avoid the ridiculus fees. Real nice area you have the back harbor or the sound both very close

I pretty much always launch by the fishing pier. Nice thing about the harbor is even when the Sound is nasty the harbor is nicely protected.

Except for the one night myself and sushistalker(Daryl)went out in the harbor. It was an extra hi moon tide and blowing from the Swith white caps, We went out Didn't get so much as a tap. In hind sight should have left the yaks on top of the cars. Didn't think with a south wind it would get so choppy

Great pictures, Rich!

Mt Sinai is one of my favorite spots and I have had pretty good luck in the back of the harbor in past years. I usually put in at one of the dinghy launch spots and sometimes at the inlet.

Looking forward to a trip there when my back problem improves.

three good spots to launch from and like said you have the sound, harbor, and plenty of marshes in the back (forgot to mention the inlet) w/living in brook haven a night pass can be purchased.
I know the ares well so we will def be doing a trip this year

I didnt really fish it all that much last year. I fished it more the year before. I fished it most of the late spring/summer, lots of blues that year. I also fished it when I wasn't that skilled with the tube.It has good drop offs rite ouside the inlet and some rocks to the west.

Love this time of year even if there are no fish. Just sharing some pictures from this morning.

A pair of Blue Heron are back.

The Sound was like glass, no wind.

Unusually high tide, road to the harbor was flooding and nobody is going to use this grill today.

Putting in this morning.
