| thanks for talking me out of my proposed location guys. my original thought was to mount the ram ball on a flat surface but it would have made self rescue difficult. my question now is it OK to mount on that part of the hull ( right in front of the flush mount rod holder)do I need to add a rubber washer or use a different mount all together? |

You HAVE to put washers inside and only have to use three bolts.

I've always used fender washers or a piece of aluminum inside the hull to back the Ram base, as there's lot of stress there when a fish hits. Watch out for the rudder cables when you drill!

| Question - On my new Outback I'm going to have a ram tube mounted. I am right handed. On my Pungo I used to have the rod holder behind me, on my right side for trolling. It has been suggested to me to put the tube on the left side - what is the consensus out there? Right side for a rightee? Where do you mount the fishfinder - same side in front of the rod holder? Thanks, George |

George, I have my Ram tube mounted on the right and I am right handed. Somehow if a fish hits while you have your pole in the holder, I am more comfortable getting the rod out on the right side.
Many people have them on the left and some on both sides. I have my FF on the left side and this setup works for me. As Ed said, if you change your mind, you can always add a second tube or just a ball and move your tube back and forth.
